SSB Employee Earns National Certification

ANNISTON, Ala. (January 3, 2017) – Southern States Bank is pleased to announce that Kristin Harville, SVP Compliance/BSA Officer, was recently awarded the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers, a subsidiary of the American Bankers Association.

“Earning the CRCM designation validates Kristin’s experience and depth of education in the bank regulatory compliance industry. We are very proud of her accomplishment and privileged to have her on our team,” said Steve Whatley, Chairman, CEO and President of Southern States Bank.

The CRCM designation is awarded to individuals who demonstrate excellence in the field of bank regulatory compliance. To qualify for the CRCM certification, individuals must have certain levels of experience and education in the compliance profession, pass a comprehensive exam and agree to abide by a code of ethics.  The CRCM exam covers regulatory requirements as they relate to credit, deposits/securities, safety and soundness, information reporting and corporate responsibility.

Kristin has been with Southern States Bank since 2008. Prior to joining Southern States Bank, she worked at other community banks and also spent two years as a state bank examiner.  She is a certified BSA/AML professional and a graduate of the Barrett School of Banking.

Financial services professionals, working through the Institute of Certified Banks, initiated the CRCM designation and six others in order to establish meaningful standards of knowledge in specialty areas of the financial services industry.
