ANNISTON, AL (April 12, 2021) – Southern States Bank, The Common Sense Bank, contributed to three organizations that will use 100% of the funds to support disaster relief efforts in parts of Alabama and Georgia that were impacted by the recent tornadoes that swept through in late March. Each organization will utilize the funds to aid the people and businesses affected in their respective communities.
“We are extremely concerned and in disbelief about the amount of damage and the lives lost in the tornadoes that affected some of our communities,” said Steve Whatley, Chairman and CEO of Southern States Bank. “Our communities support us and are very important to us, so we chose organizations that will specifically use the contributions to rebuild our communities.”
From the total contribution of $135,000, the funds were issued to the following organizations:
Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama – $45,0000
Coweta Community Foundation – $45,000
United Way of Central Alabama – $45,000
